Today was… a sad one. It was definitely a day that changed Luke and Carmen’s lives forever. Ever since their parent’s death, they’d wake up with such a depressed aura around themselves. The house wouldn’t feel the same and no matter how much their Auntie and Uncle tried to communicate with them, they just wouldn’t be their normal selves. Luke was alright with coping with it nowadays, considering he usually deleted the thoughts from their caretaker’s minds so they wouldn’t talk about it around Carmen. Honestly, he couldn’t bear to see her on this day considering how badly she took it. They all knew Carmen took their parents death the hardest considering she was the first one to find them slaughtered on the floor.
Luke shook the thoughts from his mind and sat back into his seat, stepping down on the breaks as the light changed to red. He’d hopefully get to their parents grave before Carmen did… it wasn’t that he was scared of her, it was just that he was afraid of watching her be so sad. He’d only ever seen her be over hysteric on this day, and she’d never really let him comfort her before. So why would it change today? She’d probably push him away and tell him to leave her alone, like always when he tried to help. Carmen could be a little too touchy at times. Luke brushed his fingers through his hair before stepping on the gas, listening as the engine roared to life as he turned the corner towards the San Francisco Memorial.
It didn’t take him long to pull up a park at the front gates, turning the engine off and hopping out of the car. Luke looked up towards the rows and rows of gravestones, sighing as he pulled out the small bouquet of flowers he’d bought. Alright, so he always did this, he’d bring his mothers favourite flowers to their graves to let them know he still remembered her and their father. Luke walked up to the gate, pushing it open before walking up the path. He made no sound as he walked, the only real sounds you could hear was the creaking of the gate blowing open and shut and the birds singing their songs filled with sorrow. Besides the thoughts running through his head, he clearly ignored them and stayed with his own thoughts. He bit his lip when he saw the familiar gravestones, the wind whipping his hair back from his face as he came to a stop in front of them. ”I miss you guys, a lot.” Luke said lightly, crouching down to rest the flowers across both of their graves, standing up again afterwards. He took a step back so he was leaning back against the fence – as the graves were right next to it- and crossed his arms across his chest. He just needed to remember for awhile. When would Carmen get here?

Waking up that morning, the morning that Carmen didn’t want to remember the date of was hard. Trying desperately to not think about it Carmen got out of bed and went into her bathroom. Having a nice long relaxing shower she tried to wipe those memories away, tried to erase the horrible things she had seen. The memory and pain of her parents no longer being with them, it was a hard thing to do. Once out of the shower Carmen put on some clothes and went downstairs.
Seeing that her brother wasn’t down there she was sort of glad, they both knew how hard it was and it was difficult seeing each other. Making herself some cereal Carmen decided against it and threw it out, she wasn’t sure if her stomach could handle the food. Instead she went back to her room and grabbed the flowers that she had brought for her parents especially yesterday.
Walking out of her room and going back down the stairs she went to the garage, finding her bike quickly she smiled. Carmen put the flowers in her jacket and then did it up. Pulling on her helmet she sat on the beastly bike and put her foot down. It roared with life and she sped out of the driveway.
It wasn’t long until she pulled up at the cemetery. Dismounting her bike and taking off her helmet Carmen took a deep breath and walked over to where she knew her parent’s graves were. However when Carmen was close enough to see it she saw her brother, he looked a lot like her, distraught. Luke tried to hide his feelings and most of the time he did it fairly well but this day was a hard one.
Walking over to where their graves where she had a grim expression as she looked down at the graves. “I miss you too.” Feeling a tear ready to slide down her face she looked at her brother. Moving over to where he was she wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him, they both needed it.

”I still haven’t found who killed you guys yet… It’s rotting me from the inside out, not knowing who to look out for so that I can stop them before they do anything to Carmen or me…” Luke said before frowning, brushing away the stray tear he had let escape from their native spring. He only ever let sadness show when he was on his own, he didn’t want people to know there was a weakness inside of him that he couldn’t contain. That’s why during the week coming up to this date he hid behind fake expressions, deleting anyone’s thought on trying to ask him what is wrong.
It hadn’t been long till a familiar pair of thoughts filled his mind, a rather distressed pair of thoughts that he only heard on this day. ”Carmen…” he whispered aloud before looking over towards where she was walking up the path. He couldn’t help but frown seeing her expression, turning his green eyes away from her as she got closer. At her words, Luke bit his lip and rubbed his neck, only looking up when he knew Carmen was looking at him. ”Carm…” he whispered before watching as she came over to him and wrapped her arms around him. Well, this was a change. Luke’s lip quivered slightly before he wrapped his arms around her tightly enough to make her feel safe. He closed his eyes and listened to the distress in her thoughts, resting his head lightly on top of hers.
”It’s okay… Shhh,” he murmured into Carmen’s ear, trying not to let himself break down like she was. It was hard though, a few of the tears were seeping down his cheeks as he stared at the graves before them. He held her closer then, burying his own head into her shoulder as they stood there in silence. They stood there for a few minutes, Luke’s hand moving in small circles across her back in an attempt to soothe her. ”I don’t think our parents would be very happy to see us both in tears,” Luke said, a small croaky laugh escaping his lips as he pulled back from holding Carmen, revealing his own tears with a weak smile. Luke rested his forehead against Carmen’s with a sigh, ”You realise you’re killing me inside with your thoughts…” Luke thought, letting it drift into Carmen’s mind lightly. He opened his eyes and cupped her face lightly between his hands, brushing the tears away from her cheeks, ”How are you coping?” Luke thought again, trying to lighten the mood. There was no need for talking, they didn’t need words to speak and he doubted that Carmen could actually speak through her tears.

Hearing her brothers words about not catching the killer yet it made her a little angry. Not that weird a thing to happen on a day like it was but for then she brushed the thought off and continued towards her brother. After she wrapped her arms around her brother, it was an unusual show of affection and emotion for Carm but it was a hard day and they need each other. When he embraced her and made her feel safe she sighed, it was hard to relax but she was leaning into his warm embrace.
“It’s not ok but thanks anyway.” That was typical Carmen and she guessed it would make him smile slightly. Feeling him soothe her she did slightly relax but her thoughts were clouded with the horrible memories of her parents death. Hearing her brothers words she sighed. “Im sorry I just...” She thought glad not to have to speak because Carmen wasn’t really sure if she could handle words at the moment.
When he embraced her face she tried to smile as he wiped her tears away. “Im coping.” She thought not really sure how she was coping. It brought her back to his earlier words and suddenly she felt the need to take vengeance for her parents death, that was how she would cope. Carmen had thought of doing this before but now she really wanted to. In some ways it was because she couldn’t deal with the pain and needed to put her effort in some other direction. Pulling away from her brother she turned ready to walk back towards where her bike was.

Luke laughed at Carmen’s comment, sighing lightly before brushing a hand through her hair, ”I can at least try, and hope things are okay with you, Carm.” he said lightly before smiling warmly. Typical Carmen. He couldn’t help but frown when she answered his thoughts, closing his eyes as the pictures entered his own mind by themselves. He didn’t like them, not one bit… but for some reason they just kept feeding themselves into his view. He shook his head to free himself, snapping out of his trance before frowning. ”I just got sucked into those thoughts. Sorry it took me awhile to reply,” Luke thought before pouting his lips. So that’s what she saw… fuck.
He smiled sweetly when she said she was coping, ”That’s good to know, Carm. But if you need me, I’m here. Just give me a buzz through the mind,” Luke thought quietly before brushing a piece of her hair behind her ear. From when they were younger he’d made a link to her mind so that if she needed thing he’d always know. Luke slipped away from reality again at the thoughts coming from Carmen about revenge, a frown coming to his face as he watched her start to walk away. ”Carmen, don’t do that. Please, I didn’t know you heard what I was saying…” Luke said aloud, reaching forward to grasp her hand with his. He spun her around to face him, his face laced with concern.
”At least don’t do it because of what I said. And… don’t go by yourself, we’ll do it together… we’re a team after all,” Luke pleaded, a pleading look appearing on his face. They’d always looked out for each other even if they fought a little bit; they still had each others backs at the best of times and did things together. And if they were going to avenge their parent’s death, they’d do it together… plus, he didn’t want anyone taking advantage of her.

Carmen liked that she made him laugh; it was what she had wanted to do to try and smile a bit. “And you know that you’ll keep hoping.” Carm said with a smile as he ran his hand through her hair it relaxed her. They had become quite close when their parents had died so they were always looking out for each other like now. Though most of the time it was different to this, it was just that date that everything changed. “Sorry my thoughts are pretty vivid today.” Carmen sighed and let out a deep breath, she had needed to steady herself.
“You know how I am and I’ll try to let you in sometimes.” She knew he wouldn’t have believed her if she lied in her thoughts so Carmen didn’t bother. Not that she normally did anyway. Hearing his voice as she walked away sighed, then he grabbed her arm and pulled her back around. Listening to him trying to explain and stop her she shook her head. Carmen said to her brother with a grim face as the memories of what she had seen came back. She quickly pushed them away not wanting her brother to read her thoughts and see what she had. Carmen would never wish for someone else to see what she did, even if it was a delayed vision.
Hearing his next words she sighed and shook her head, he was right they should do this together. [b] “Ok.” Slowly she calmed down and came to her senses a little. “Lets not do this now though, maybe tomorrow.” If he read her thoughts, which he most likely would, he would see that she just needed to be with her parents a little longer and that they would be pissed if they went after the killer now.
